The Manawatu is renowned for its flat plains and wonderful hills – and of course the problematic Manawatu Gorge.
Closed for the foreseeable future, NZTA have recently announced the indicative route for the new State Highway 3 / Manawatū Gorge replacement road. Officially called “Te Ahu a Turanga: Manawatū Gorge Replacement Route Project”, the proposed scheme proposes a new road that will run from near the western entry of the closed SH3 Manawatu Gorge route, across the Ruahine Ranges north of the Gorge, and reconnect to SH3 at Woodville.
With such a huge roading project on the horizon, in addition to other maintenance focused roadworks throughout Manawatu and within Palmerston North City, now is the time for jobseekers (permanent or contract) and traffic management consultants to ensure that they or their staff are appropriately qualified to plan and carry out road works.
Temporary traffic management consultants have a legal (and ethical) obligation to ensure all staff deployed on road projects hold up-to-date Traffic Controller (TC) or Site Traffic Management Supervisors (STMS) accreditations.
